Background:
The Sukhoi Superjet 100, (Russian: Сухой Суперджет 100) is a modern Russian fly-by-wire twin-engine regional jet. Development commenced in 2000, with the airliner being designed and spearheaded by Sukhoi, a division of the Russian civil aerospace company (UAC), in co-operation with several foreign partners. Its maiden flight was conducted on 19 May 2008.
On 21 April 2011, the Superjet 100 undertook its first commercial passenger flight, on the Armavia route from Yerevan to Moscow.
The type entered service with Aeroflot on June of 2011. Aeroflot currently operates 22 aircraft, with an order for another 50 to be fulfilled.
RA-89001 was stored by Aeroflot in January 2013. It currently operates with Red Wings Airlines since April 2015, after briefly flying for Moskovia Airlines.
